The Lady Tigers found out real quick what it’s like playing the #1 USCAA Rochester Warriors, getting hammered 25-10; 25-10; 25-8. The youthful Tigers never could get anything going as Rochester simply dominated the net. “We had 48 digs, mainly because we couldn’t get much of a block and they just teed off on our defense.” Coach Spooner noted at the end of the match. “Our inexperience against their older and more disciplined team was clearly on display tonight. It was disappointing that we didn’t compete for every point. But that responsibility is mine in preparation and we just have to keep working together as a team. We have so much potential if the ladies won’t get too discouraged”
The one bright note was again the most consistent element so far this season as the Tigers served at a steller 98%. Naomi Kemper led in kills with 5, and 18 serve receptions. Tabitha Ryan had 15 digs, several of them spectaculer ups against a far superior front line attack.
The Lady Tigers travel to Chicago and the Moody Bible Invitational, opening against the #3 team in the NCCAA Div. II- long time rival Kentucky Christian University. Coach Spooner expressed his anticipation of high level competition. “I’m excited for the ladies to truly see what high level competition is all about in Division II. Coach Dixon is one of the premier coaches in the nation and this will be a great challenge for us to simply play without any reservations.”
