Senior Night this Saturday, January 26

Please come out to the mens and women’s basketball games at Grace this weekend to help us in supporting our senior athletes. We wil be honoring our  two seniors from the volleyball team on this Saturday, January 26 at 4pm. The seniors we will be honoring this year are Naomi Kemper and Nichole Galbicsek. They have both been great leaders and examples to this program and they are going to be missed.

Coach Barry Celebrates Winter Wedding

Coach Barry celebrated her wedding to fiance Chris Mutnansky on December 15. They were married in Traverse City at the Grand Traverse Resort. The volleyball team is so happy for Coach Barry, now Coach Mutnansky. They are very excited for Chris to join the Grace family and community.

Volleyball Team Gathers for End of the Season Party

The Grace Volleyball Team gathered to celebrate the 2012 season. The team not only celebrated their successes and the friendships they formed, but they also recognized and thanked their seniors for their hard work and dedication to the program and also for the effect they have had on the program. The team was also able to catch up with each other, reminisce, and play games. It was a fun afternoon of being together as a team.

Although it was a great afternoon of celebrating the 2012 season, the returners are looking forward to the upcoming 2013 season and all that it has in store.

Coach Masselink Welcomes Baby Boy

Coach Masselink and her husband Scott welcomed their first child today at 10:52am. They gave birth to a boy, Westyn John Masselink. He was 6lbs 14oz and 19 inches long. The family is doing great and baby Westyn is ready to be the Tigers biggest fan.

Tigers Lose First Round of Regional Tournament to Moody Bible

The Tigers were matched up against tough Moody Bible team for the first round of the Midwest Regional Tournament. The Tigers were defeated; 10-25, 12-25, 14-25. The Tigers struggled to serve receive pass against a very aggressive Moody Bible, this made it hard for them to set up and offense. Moody’s fast offense was too much for the Tigers as well. The Tigers played well defensively, but struggled to block which ultimately made it hard for them to be successful.

Naomi Kemper led the Tigers offensively with 9 kills. Aubree Domsic Dished out 14 assists. Nichole Galbicsek led our defense with 14 digs and Naomi Kemper also added in 12 digs.

Grace Falls Again to Gogebic CC and Northland in Saturday’s Matches

The Tigers started out strong against Northland Int. in the first match on Saturday, but struggled with their serve receive in sets 2 and 3.  The Tigers lost to Northland in the first match; 18-25, 9-25, 15-25 and to Gogebic CC in the second match; 16-25, 16-25, 18-25. The Tigers picked up their overall play and their serve receive in the second match, but it wasn’t enough to defeat Gogebic. Their offense was off all day due to their lack of passing during the first match.

Gabrielle Blickley led the Tigers against Northland Int. with 6 kills. Aubree Domsic dished out 7 assists for the Tigers.  Naomi Kemper led the defense with 9 digs and 1 Solo Block.

Naomi Kemper and Nichole Galbicsek led the Tigers against Gogebic with 5 kills a piece. Aubree Domsic dished out 9 assists.  Naomi Kemper led the defense with 12 digs and 3 solo blocks.

Grace Falls in Close Matches Against Gogebic and Northland

The Tigers started out strong in both matches tonight,  but fell short of winning in both. They fell to Gogebic Community College in the first match; 25-18, 14-25, 11-25, 21-25 and to Northland International in the second match; 23-25, 12-25, 24-26.

Gabrielle Blickley led the Tigers in the first match against Gogebic with 8 kills. Naomi Kemper and Nichole Galbicsek chipped in with 7 kills a piece. Aubree Domsic dished out 16 assists. Nichole Galbicsek also added 5 service aces. Naomi Kemper led the defense with 19 digs.

Naomi Kemper led the Tigers against Northland Int. Unv. wth 6 kills. Aubree Domsic dished out 8 assists. Nichole Galbicsek served up 6 service aces. Naomi Kemper also added 17 digs and Aubree Domsic added 15 digs to help the defense.
