On July 26 – 31, a team of people including volleyball player Nichole Galbicsek, from Journey Church (in Caledonia, MI) traveled to Panama City, Panama to Casa de Gracia Church. While there, Nichole had the privilege of working with the children’s ministry team in leading a bi-lingual vacation bible school program. Her testimony shows the life-changing impact just one week can have if your heart is open.
“It was an experience I will never forget, although there were struggles God showed me that he can overcome any obstacle I may face. I also found a passion I never thought I would have which is Youth Ministry. The kids there were so loving and most of the time they were ministering to me just as much as I was to them! Our team was so different and diverse but we were able to help each other with our weaknesses and encourage our strengths. Overall, I am so glad I decided to go because I was able to transform not only others, but myself into someone who desires God more than anything else.”
“This year we are more than ever committed to ministry during the season.” Coach Spooner said. “Nichole’s example is just one of many that our student-athletes are involved in and we are looking for more opportunities to explore service projects.”
One of the goals of volleyball this year is looking at a Spring Break mission trip to Costa Rica or Haiti. If you have any other ideas for service projects please let Coach Spooner know on the GBC web site.
