Detroit, MI: Coach John Spooner knew the Mustangs of Marygrove would be a tough match anyway but without both outside hitters and major changes in rotations it became even more daunting. “Bottom line there are no excuses for just not playing the game. Regardless of changes made, we needed to show a better effort especially in the first set.”
The Mustangs ran away in that first set; 25-5. The Tigers started off better in the 2nd but lost 25-10. Then making even more changes the Tigers struggled again losing the third set, 25-7. “Marygrove has made significant improvement in the program over the years going NAIA with athletic scholarships. The changes we’re making I’m convinced will pay off in the long run- but it will be a marathon to get there.” Coach Spooner said after the match.
The Tigers have no time to regroup playing Kuyper College and Cornerstone tonight at 6 and 8pm.
