The Grace Bible College men’s basketball team captured their second straight NCCAA Div. II championship and the entire campus community will celebrate with them this Wednesday. After the national tournament I pointed out to several of the volleyball team and future recruits that no woman’s team is school history has ever won a national championship on any level. The challenge is obvious…who will be the first?
The men’s team did so with character and class. So many opposing team fans would comment about the humility the team showed in their gutsy and determined focus during three hard fought games. It went way beyond just winning but showed the depth of commitment each player and coaches had in demonstrating Christ-like behavior. I told the ladies this was a great example in showing all of us in Grace Athletics the level of hard work and commitment to excellence it takes to achieve such a honorable goal.
We have a very exciting freshman class coming in next year joining those returning in pursuing the dream…a Volleyball National Championship. Not just winning but an even higher standard of commitment to character and Christ-like humility.
Thank you Men’s Basketball and the Coaches for showing us the way. Not just to a National Title but more importantly to an eternal reward of honoring Christ with the talents He has blessed us with.
