Volleyball coach John Spooner was the graduation speaker at the 2011 Providence Christian High School graduation last Friday. “After I spoke at the fall spiritual emphasis week the senior class voted me to speak at their graduation. It was quite an honor and I was humbled by their confidence in offering me this special opportunity.” Coach Spooner said.
This was the largest graduating class in Providence School history and Coach Spooner spoke about this not being just a commencement address but more of a commissioning to a higher calling. Using the class verse, “And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.” Heb. 13:16, Coach Spooner challenged the graduates to pursue a vocation not just a job. “Live to BE..not for ME. Using your faith allows your faith to use you.”
“Coach Spooner’s passion and word’s were truly awe-inspiring and struck a cord with everyone present, especially the graduates.” Brian Poppen, the senior class adviser wrote on behalf of the senior class.
“It was encouraging to talk with so many parents and students afterwards realizing how significant spiritually committed youth are to our society today. Of course it was also good to talk to some of the juniors and sophomores about Grace Bible volleyball.” Coach Spooner pointed out later.
The next posting will feature volleyball All-American Naomi Kemper and her recent trip to Africa.
