The Tigers finished in fourth place at the Moody Bible Institute tournament losing to Indiana University Northwest in 3 sets-15-25; 18-25; 20-25. “We just couldn’t find a way to meet them at the net and that’s where they dominated us.” Coach Spooner noted after the match. “Considering all the injuries and sickness we were dealing with I was not terribly disappointed with our effort today. We just have to be willing to play hard for every point regardless of who’s on the court or in what position.”
Nichole Galbicsek (Okinawa, Japan), was selected to the All-Tournament team leading the team in kills with 28 and a 97% serving with 5 aces. Nichole also had to play full rotation due to sickness of teammate Rayna DoBrodt. “This was well deserved by Nichole playing perhaps some of her best volleyball to date. She’s been working hard in practice and becoming more confident of her ability. This gives us solid consistent hitting in every rotation.” Coach Spooner noted. Shelby Jamieson (Wayland HS, Wayland MI) Jessica Ryan (Hopkins HS; Hopkins, MI) also received consideration for their play.
The Tigers travel to regional rival Great Lakes Tuesday the 28th and then Maranatha Baptist on Friday.
