Grace fell 9-0 in their opening match to cross town opponent Calvin College. Grace fought hard in doubles, including 3rd doubles player Andy Clark diving for a shot, but when down 3-0 early by dropping all 3 doubles matches.
The Tigers couldn’t find their rhythm in singles either as they dropped all 6 matches. Coach Miedema commented, “This isn’t an easy place to play for our first match. Not only is Calvin a tough opponent but their courts play like none other. Their indoor service is more like a track and takes some really funny hops. Overall I’m really proud of our guys and the heart they showed. We showed strong athletic ability and will continue to convert that to our tennis strokes.”
