Mark Carroll - GBC

Mark Carroll

Assistant Coach

Mark Carroll will begin the 2010-2011 season as the assistant men’s and women’s varsity tennis coach at Grace Bible College.  He helped start Grace’s intramural tennis lessons/tournament his first two years and then led the move to a schedule against other college tennis teams as a club team last year.  “It is an exciting time at GBC with our athletic teams expanding and giving opportunities to more and more students to compete at the college level.  There are a lot of students that would like to continue playing sports for a few more years after high school and as Grace is expanding to varsity tennis this year (2010-2011), it allows them to do just that.”

Coach Carroll is a 1974 graduate of Grandville High School where he was a four year letter winner in tennis.  While playing for the Bulldogs, Mark set a school record for victories in dual meets and tournaments with a record of 100-29 at #1 & #2 singles.  After high school, Coach Carroll took his skills to Spring Arbor University where he lettered all four years while compiling a record of 85-18 at #2 singles and doubles.

Mark has been a member of the USTA West Michigan Travel Team as a player/coach the last few years.

Mark holds a Master’s Degree from the Grand Rapids Theological Seminary.  He spent 29 years in full-time youth ministry in the Wesleyan Church.  Since 2000, Mark has served as an adjunct faculty member at Grace Bible College and the last three years as the Assistant Professor of Youth Ministry.  He is currently working on his Doctor of Education degree at Trinity Theological Seminary.

Coach Carroll lives in Grand Rapids with his wife, Julie, of 29 years.  They have three children: Ashley (24) a school teacher in Indiana, Josh (22) a junior at Indiana Wesleyan University, and Megan (20) a sophomore at GBC.
