Men on campus enjoyed a relaxing night on Friday…a movie and popcorn. Dr. Loverin joined them for the night as he selected the movie option: The Good, The Bad & The Ugly. The classic western was a hit among the men! Movie night is sure to come again soon.

Last weekend provided a wonderful opportunity for Aletheia Hall to head downtown GR for ice skating at Rosa Parks Circle. The group had a group time (with not TOO many falls!). They followed the time outdoors with mugs of hot chocolate. A perfect winter outing!

A group of GBC students left campus after classes Friday afternoon to enjoy College Day at Caberfae Peaks Ski Resort. Prices are reduced, the weather is wonderful (snowy!) and these students took advantage of the opportunity! Another ski event is planned for February.

Aletheia Hall recently enjoyed a favorite event…the Progressive Brunch. Ladies dressed up and enjoyed fruit, coffee and tea at the Loverin’s as well as a game of ‘Psychiatrist.’ Next the group traveled to Sherstad’s where they enjoyed a variety of egg dishes and a game of ‘Picture Telephone.’ Finally the ladies traveled to Spooner’s where french toast bake and cinnamon rolls waited…as well as a game of ‘What If?’ The morning was fantastic, fun and an event that will certainly happen again next semester!

Only one day a year, please
The 80′s have come back to Grace with enthusiasm. Students had to dig deep into their (parents’) closets to find these. Some staff got into the act too. Nicely done!

Friday, November 5th, concluded the Life Series of Sexual Abuse. Emily Renberg hosted a Women At Risk event Friday night and many students were able to take advantage of not only the opportunity to become educated on a growing crime in the United States (human trafficking) but also color a page in coloring books that will be sent to orphans overseas. All who attended were presented with sobering facts on the reality of this tragedy but had the opportunity to pray and lift the entire thing to the Lord, knowing He is good and that His hand is at work in even a tragedy such as this. The night ended with a viewing of the movie ‘Taken’ as it deals with human trafficking and a dad’s struggle to free his daughter.

GBC hosted the 3rd annual Halloween Carnival on Sunday, October 31st and it was a fantastic evening! From 6-8 pm, trick-or-treaters came through our Jack T. Dean Academic Center and enjoyed face painting, games and lots of candy!, a great bounce house and the chance to make a wordless-book bracelet. This particular event is an incredible opportunity to serve the community as well as plant seeds of the love of God in hearts that come through our doors.

Friday, October 15th, six teams participated in our annual Fear Factor event. Some of this year’s challenges included: Hot Stuff (eat a habanero pepper), Cricket Taxi (transporting and eating 8 crickets), Apple Dunking (bobbing for apples in water that was simply disgusting) and Art Prize (a group event where ‘fear’ was sculpted from chewed bubble gum). Congratulations to Team ‘Water & Ice’ who took first place and will enjoy a lovely home cooked meal with the Loverins.
