Recently a group of GBC students went to see the movie Courageous, and were inspired by the story of men taking a stand to lead their families.  The opportunity to see the movie together, men and women!, was appreciated by those who went.  One male student who saw the movie commented, “That was intense.”  We are thankful for wholesome media and the challenge it was to each of us.

Milk Chug, Mystery Smoothie, Goldfish Relay and Cottage Drop are some of the events students endured in this year’s Fear Factor event.  This is by far the most disgusting event of the year…and yet GBC students are competitors and ‘enjoy’ every minute of it!  Congratulations to the Cunning Caps for their victory and winning a home cooked dinner with the Loverin family.

Friday, October 14th was Dodgeball Tournament night, and GBC knows how to do dodgeball.  Mens’ and womens’ teams competed hard as they fought to be the ultimate dodgeball champions.  Thankfully there were no injuries to report and more dodgeball is sure to be on the GBC calendar!

Saturday, September 24th, ladies from GBC participated in the Sexual Harassment and Rape Prevention (SHARP) class taught by Dr. Scott Shaw.  Participants learned various techniques of defense and had the opportunity to ‘practice’ the moves on punching bags and brave guest ‘assailants.’  A second class is tentatively scheduled for late January to increase ladies’ awareness and practice of tools they can use to keep themselves safe.

Tuesday, September 13th saw the start of this year’s small groups and the Resident Assistants, after the first night with their groups, are excited!  Here are a few comments from several RAs:

There were a lot of laughs and overall we all seemed to have a great time. ~Josh

I can definitely say that things went smoother than I thought they would. I have a group of guys who are a wide range of people, and seem to fit well together. ~Curtis

I can’t wait for next week now that I know our group is good on the caring and relating part to put that into learning about our Savior. ~Naomi

God will do amazing things. I’m just going to have to wait and see what He’s going to do. ~Katie

Small Groups meet every Tuesday night from 10-11 pm and are led by the RAs.  These groups are an amazing opportunity for friendships to form and accountability to be built among members throughout the year.  We are thankful for another year to see what the Lord will do in and through GBC small groups!

New students are moved into the residence halls…small groups have been assigned…returning students are back on campus…and classes have just begun!  We are back in full swing at GBC and the excitement on campus is contagious.  Mr. Mark Congrove gave a challenging convocation address and encouraged students to take numerous steps toward progress: preparation, maturity, and obedience to name a few.  We are excited to see what the Lord has in store for GBC this year!

Things at GBC are picking up…and quickly!  Just last weekend, freshmen athletes moved into the residence halls.  They didn’t hang around campus too long because early Monday morning, they loaded up and headed to Grace Adventures where they will spend the week participating in the Grace Experience.  These athletes will return on Friday and official practices begin on Monday, August 15th.  Go Tigers!

Grace Bible College is gearing up for another tremendous year!  Students begin arriving on campus as early as August 7th, which is less than one month away.

August 8th – Freshmen Athletes Check In and Depart for Grace Adventures “Leadership Journey” (and return August 12).

August 14th – Resident Assistants and all other Athletes arrive.

August 22 – September 2 – August Term Classes

August 27 – Freshmen Arrive and head to Grace Adventures August 28 – September 1

September 7 – Classes Begin

Ladies from GBC headed off campus Friday afternoon and spent the next 36 hours together in Holland.  The group enjoyed powerful worship, challenging speakers, times of quiet and rest with the Lord, games and laughter together and returned Saturday evening feeling rejuvenated and inspired in their relationships with their God.

Erin and Denise, the speakers for the weekend, spent time sharing their own stories with us and explaining how the Lord has brought them to experience beautiful redemption in their lives.

Hearts were open before the Lord this weekend and it was a wonderful opportunity for the ladies to be reminded just how beautiful they are in the eyes of our Lord.
