The Mall Hunt Continues!

There is no better way to wash away the stress of mid-terms than to go to the mall!  On 2/27/13 the Community Life team put together the annual “Mall Hunt.”  The premise of the evening is that student teams of 4 are given a list of who to find (RA’s). Along with the RA’s there are also mystery guests that the teams must find.  The teams are given one hour to find as many participants throughout the mall as possible.  The team that found the most Community Life members (who were dressed up) received gift certificates to the movies!  Last night, the champions found 7 people hiding throughout the mall. This team included Naomi Kemper, John Caprari, and Josh Befus.  I have a feeling a double date is on the horizon…Anyhow, we had great student participation which is what made it an awesome experience!  Many thanks to the hard working Community Life Team, who work tirelessly to encourage fun, growth, and accountability of our students both on and off campus!

Super Bowl Night at Grace Bible College

On Sunday, February 3, 2013 the Community Life Staff and Kitchen Crew put on a SuperBowl party for staff and students. While the game, commercials, and halftime were showing on a projection screen as well as 7 other flatscreen televisions in and around the Student Commons area, the main draw was the fellowship that attendees were able to enjoy. The students and staff were treated to a massive amount of food which included wings, sliders, chili, hot pretzels, foot long hot dogs, brats, tons of candy and ice cream to wash it all down. Throughout the game prizes were given away but in the end, students wanted to see their football teams win! While many of our students did not care one way or the other who won, there were also some die hard San Francisco 49′er fans who were sprinkled amongst us. Because of this, others chose to root for the Baltimore Ravens for the fun of it, which made a spirited and entertaining time had by all.
Thanks so much to all of those that helped put the night on and a HUGE thank you for all who attended and were able to experience some of what the Grace Bible community has to offer!

GBC Goes Sledding!!!

On Friday, January 25, 2013 our students took advantage of a great sledding hill just down the street from our campus. This sledding hill is located at Pinery Park, and has been a destination for students for anything from training for sports, to sledding, walking and exercising, or just getting away from campus with a friend. This park is just one of the many amenities located within a short walk or drive away from our campus that our students enjoy! This event was planned by Nathan Porter, one of our great Resident Assistants who lives on campus. Make sure to get involved as there are plenty of activities and opportunities to have fun and get to know your peers!

Grace Bible starts its first inaugural Flag Football Season!

Recently, students at Grace Bible College were looking for something to do in their down time when they were not studying or attending class.  A group of students approached Student Government to see if they would be willing to sponsor intramurals to be held on campus for the students. Obviously the Student Government Team was really excited about this opportunity for the GBC student body and wanted to help. Over the next few weeks, a total of 6 teams gathered, practiced, and readied themselves for the grid iron. On October 10, 2012 the first ever flag football season opened with league play. The teams will be playing every Wednesday and Sunday to help seperate the contenders from the pretenders. Come out to the practice soccer field with the early games set for 4:00PM as each game is slated for an hour time limit. There will be three games per day. Come out and support your football-playing Tigers!

Students head to Schwallier’s Country Basket

Sunday, October 7 threatened rain all day until 25 students/staff filled the GBC vans for Schwallier’s Country Basket. We filed out once we arrived, greeted by goats and pumpkins, apple trees, cats, and treats that awaited our success in the corn maze. We teamed up and set out through the labyrinth of corn as the sun peeled through the clouds. After about an hour…or more…we emerged victorious from the maze, though a few of us might have needed a little assistance to find our way out…We pooled our resources and shared a few dozen doughnuts and hot apple cider. We snagged a group picture on the straw mountain and made the short trek back to GBC in time for dinner. It was a fantastic day.
