8 Week Workout Distributed

There are only 8 short weeks left before the Lady Tigers hit the pitch this fall for the 2012 fall season.  The 8 week workout was recently distributed to all incoming and returning Grace players in preparation for preseason training.  The program is primarily based on muscle strengthening, increased flexibility, and aerobic/anaerobic conditioning.

“There is always a danger in distributing a summer workout too early or too late,” commented Coach Vissia.  “If the workout is given too early, there is a risk of burnout and monotony.  However, if the workout is given too late, little is gained out of the program because there simply isn’t enough time to witness true results.  The coaching staff believes that 8 weeks is the optimal time because focus won’t be lost over the two month period and yet potential for injury should still be lessened.”

The workout should lay the foundation for preseason conditioning which will start on August 13.  The Lady Tigers will need to hit the ground running on that date as their first scrimmage is August 22 against Muskegon Community College and first match only three days later versus Robert Morris Lake County.
