GBC ended its three day road trip with a showdown against the Trailblazers from Ohio Christian University Saturday afternoon.  The ladies showed well in the first twenty minutes of the match having several scoring opportunities and applying more pressure than they had in the previous matches.  However, Ohio Christian also had many chances on frame and finally capitalized on one with 13 minutes to play in the half.  The Tigers continued to fight in the second half and evened the game with 23 to play.  From that point on the Trailblazers raised their level of play and finally answered with only 6 minutes remaining.  In a last attempt to tie the game, GBC pushed forward for the remainder of the game.  The effort was not rewarded as Ohio Christian tallied their final goal with 2 minutes to play.  The final score read 3-1 in favor of the Trailblazers.

“It’s a step in the right direction,” said Coach Vissia.  “It isn’t a win but we are getting closer.”  Joanne Coffey was taken down from behind in the box setting up the Tiger’s lone goal.  Coffey took the PK opportunity and buried it in the lower left corner.  Kerie Rudd kept the Tigers in the match with 18 saves on the night and Martha Huizenga-Hegg also made 2 saves in net.  The Lady Tigers will travel to Rochester College on Tuesday to play the Warriors.
