Sarah Steenwyk to Join Women’s Soccer Team

The Lady Tiger women’s soccer team is proud to announce the key addition of Sarah Steenwyk.  Sarah was a three sport athlete at Zion Christian where she participated in basketball, soccer, and volleyball.  Coach Renzema actively recruited Sarah for the women’s basketball team and after a few conversations with Coach Vissia, it was clear that Sarah had a passion for the game of soccer as well.  Throughout Sarah’s three year varsity career at Zion Christian she tallied 36 goals and 16 assists.  She was the captain of her team during her junior and senior years and was acknowledge for her level of play with all-conference recognition.  Sarah was named as an Honorable Mention All-Conference player in both her sophomore and junior seasons and as a First Team All-Conference member this past spring.

“We are extremely pleased that Sarah has decided to come out for soccer this fall,” stated Coach Vissia.  “She will complement our returning players and the other freshman coming in very nicely.  We were still looking for one last finisher and Sarah seems as though she will fill that need perfectly.  We’ve been praying that God would bring out the exact girls He desires for this year’s team and we’re excited that Sarah is a part of that plan.”

Sarah is one of three siblings, triplets.  Her brothers, Seth and Scott, will be attending Dordt College and Grand Valley State University this fall.  Sarah is the daughter of Al and Sue Steenwyk.
