The GBC women’s soccer team made the eight hour trip down to Kentucky Christian University Thursday evening in preparation for the afternoon match on Friday. The outcome of the match was disappointing for the Lady Tigers as they fell to the Knights 5-0. GBC struggled to close out each half as four of the five goals allowed were given up during the last ten minutes of each half. In the end the Tigers were outshot 22-2 and were only able to attack sparing throughout the match.
“The girls worked hard to hang on for the first 30 minutes of the match but we eventually broke down as the half dragged on,” commented Coach Vissia. “The defensive shape was certainly better in the first half. Although the loss was disappointing we can still take away several positives from the game.”
The team will now travel up to Ohio Christian and play the Trailblazers on Saturday at 1:00 pm. The Tigers are hoping that with some improved played the outcome will be different. “As long as the girls keep plugging away and build on what they’ve learned, continued improvement will occur,” said Coach Heger.
