With the addition of incoming freshman, Lindsey Anible, the Lady Tigers have found themselves in a small dilemma nearly every coach wishes they had, having two solid goalkeepers (Anible and senior Kerie Rudd). Many teams struggle to find one keeper who can carry a team and play at a high level for an entire season. Kerie Rudd, a converted field player, has proven over the past 3 seasons that she can do an admirable job carrying to load in net. With the season drawing closer, Coaches Rumenapp and Teesdale have a decision to make on who will see the majority of reps on net during practice and who will start during the season. At least for now they envision it looking like this,
“First of all this is a coaches dream. Knowing that no matter which decision you make you have a solid keeper, and someone who can step in if needed is a massive stress relief.” Said Coach Rumenapp, “I have seen Kerie progress over each of the last seasons as a keeper, but what few people know is how good she is with her feet. Kerie played field all throughout high school and actually has some of the best touch and field vision on the team. After speaking candidly about Kerie about several things as far as team and personal goals Coach Teesdale and myself feel pretty confident and at ease with our decision. The plan coming into training camp is to utilize Kerie’s knowledge of the game and vision to anchor our defense and give Lindsey a try in net. Kerie is benchmark by which Lady Tigers keepers will be measured, but we feel what she can add to us in the field is too good to pass up if we have a viable option to hold down the net in her absence.”
Grace Will be switiching formations this year and running variation of a 4-5-1. It will take the leadership of Kerie Rudd in a central back position to help keep the disciplined to keep its shape.
