Saturday at noon the Lady Tigers kicked off against Lincoln Christian, 90 minutes later they etched the match into the history book of Women’s Soccer. Winning by a score of 12-1 the Lady Tigers set a new record for most goals in a single game as well as tying the teams largest margin of victory (both records 9set last year against Robert Morris Lake County in a 11-0 victory).
“I am very pleased with the effort and intentionality our ladies showed today.” Said Coach Rumenapp. “Before the game we told them there were 5 areas we really wanted them to focus on and continue to develop. The ladies were able to stay focused and intentionally think about and execute these things during the game. As a coach I could not be more proud of the effort they put into working on what we asked regardless the score.”
The Tiger’s outshot Lincoln 49-2 while having an edge of 29-2 with shots on frame. Debbie Pekel broke the scoring open early in the match and paced Grace with 4 goals and 1 assist. Jamie Hanna added a hat trick for the Lady Tigers with Autumn Befus adding a brace to go along with her three assists. Destiny Banasihan, Courtney Glinka and April Phillipi all added goals as well for the Tigers.
The Lady Tigers next game is Tuesday evening at 6:00pm home at Velting Field when they host the Cardinals of Andrews University
