Grace Scores First Goal of the Season at Lincoln Christian University

It appeared it would be just a matter of time before the women’s team would score their first goal of the season during the game at Lincoln Christian University.  Lincoln scored first and had a 2-0 lead at the half.  Though behind on the scoreboard, Grace had numerous opportunities to score.   Players recording shots on goal during the game were:  Britalia Slater 3, Tabitha McIntosh 4, Kerie Rudd 4, and Tina Mattias 1.  Grace equaled Lincoln’s attempts on goal (12), had the run of play for much of the match, and possessed the ball well.  Lincoln took advantage of Grace miscues on the pitch though, and tallied 3 more goals in the second half, winning 1-5.  The highlight of the game was the Grace goal scored by Tabitha McIntosh in the second half, she was assisted on the play by Tina Mattias.  Kerie Rudd made a save while playing in the goal for the first half.  In the second half, Whitney Bunch played between the posts for Grace and recorded 6 saves.  The midfield play of captains Erin Benton and Erin Befus was especially good.  Also noteworthy were the efforts of Bree Stowers on defense and Laura Vinton’s control and distribution of the ball for the Grace side.  The Grace women are back home for games Friday and Saturday.  Friday’s game is at 3:00, before the men, who play at 5:00.  Saturday’s game is at 5:00, after the 3:00 men’s match.
