The Grace Coaching Staff held a soccer camp in Fremont, Michigan this past week where 26 players participated.  The clinic ran from Monday (8/8) through Thursday (8/11) for individuals ages 9-12.  The sessions were filled with technical drills that progressed towards tactical decisions as the week carried on.  Dribbling, possession, defending, and finishing were focal points early in the morning, followed by basic principles of attacking and defending.  The highlight of the camp revolved around a 3 v 3 tournament which culminated with the “Netherlands” defeating “England” in overtime during the final match.

“We were absolutely thrilled with the turnout,” said Coach Vissia.  “The kids were here to learn and one could certainly witness progression throughout the week.  I think the kids had a great time this week and had an opportunity to increase their skill, knowledge of the game, and more importantly their love for soccer.  If these kids continue to put the time into improving their game the potential for future success is there.”

Coach Heger commenting on technique

Coach Vissia and Coach Heger gave instruction during the week.  Players had an opportunity to fine-tune their 1 v 1 skills, small-sided play, and even had a chance to experiment with some large-sided group play.  “Overall I was very pleased with the desire these kids had to improve.  I’m confident that each player is better equipped to succeed at their level of play,” stated Coach Heger.
