Grace made the trip to Hammond, Indiana to play NAIA side Purdue Calumet. The Tigers went into the game ready to work hard and put for a solid effort and did just that. The Tigers defended extremely well and freshman keeper Aaron Jones (Danville, Virginia) took his first start and made the best of it by making crucial saves. Grace absorb the pressure and then looked to spring Colt Nieuwenhuis free who beat the Purdue Calumet keeper put pushed it just wide of the post. Grace went into half with the score 0-0. Grace would continue to play well, working hard and were a bit unlucky to concede a goal. During the final minutes Chris Thompson (Hudsonville, Mi) took a free kick that took a fantastic save to keep it out of the top corner. “We played a very good game and I am extremely happy with what we did today. We kept our shape well and made it difficult for them, and when we had opportunities we took them and made quality chances maybe deserved a goal”, said Coach Buchanan. The Tigers will now travel to West Virginia to face Appalachian Bible College on Saturday.
