Grace failed to keep up it’s run of good form today in a defeat to Andrews University. The
Tigers looked slow from the start conceding a goal ten minutes into the game. The Tigers began to create chances, but then Andrews again came down and scored making it 0-2. Grace tried to get one back just before half, when Nathan Colby got onto a pas in the goal mouth but was unlucky not to score as the ball hit off the head of an Andrews defender sliding across the goal. Tigers had an up hill battle to climb in the second half. “Considering how we played, I didn’t think we could do much worse, but I was slightly mistaken. We went over some things we wanted to correct going into the second half, but failing to carry out those changes early in the second half cost us and we were not at our best tonight”, said Coach Grube. Grace would surrender two more goals. The lethargic performance had some energy injected into it as Leo Caldas, Josh Befus, Chris Thompson, Nathan Colby, and Jon Proskey stepped onto the pitch. “They wanted to make a difference. They wanted to work hard and carry out the things we set out today not only from the begining of the game but even more so at halftime. They got their opportunity and did exactly that. They showed what a high work rate and desire can do” commented Coach Buchanan. This group directly influenced the game with Leo Caldas setting up Chris Thompson with a nice build up and pass who finished with a quality shot. Thompson would again step up and hit a cracker of a free kick blasting it into upper ninety scoring his second of the contest. Unfortunately it was a little to late as the Tigers could not dig out of the hole they created and would lose the affair by the final score of 2-4. The road will get tougher as Grace will travel to Hammond Indiana to face NAIA side Purdue University Calumet on Wednesday.
