The Men’s Soccer team played a strong game against Hillsdale Freewill today but came up short after double overtime. The Tigers lost on penalties 4-2. It was a tough loss for the Tigers considering how they played. “Besides the first five minutes of the game where they got the goal to go in front I thought we played well enough to deserve the win, unfortunately we all know that does not always happen”, said Coach Buchanan. Grace trailed for much of the game creating chance after chance out shooting their opponent 22 to 4, and edged them in corners with 11 to 1. Grace would draw finally draw even with minutes to go when Drake Olson put in a cross. The game then went into overtime where Tigers nearly won it when Colt Nieuwenhuis hit the post on a shot. “I feel for all of us, my guys played their hearts out on the field today. To lose in penalties is always tough and getting knocked out in the exact same fashion to the same team is tough in back to back year. I am proud of the way we played and with the character we displayed in a hard fought game tonight”, said Coach Buchanan. The Tigers find themselves in the third place game against the same team as last year Barclay College. The Tigers will play at 10:00 am tomorrow.
