The Tiger’s traveled to Watertown, Wisconsin to take on Maranatha Baptist Bible College this past weekend. Grace nearly scored in the first ten minutes when sophomore Jonah Stacy found himself in space in front of goal but was not able to finish on the pass from freshman Vasilij Kuiper. In the first half the Tigers battled strong gusts of wind and a well organized side but then conceded a penalty kick when Drake Olsen fouled a Maranatha player in the box. Maranatha would take the 1-0 lead into halftime. Grace had the advantage of the wind in the second half but it was Maranatha again getting on the score sheet as hard shot was deflected and then slotted past Tiger’s keeper Drew Smith. Grace could not find an answer to the goals and lost the contest 0-2. “We need to do a better job at finishing our opportunities because that can change a game. I thought we came out in the second half and worked hard and I applaud the effort of this team. Even when a game is not going the way we would like we have been resilient and carry a positive attitude. We had a lot of players for different reasons need to come out of the game and I thought the players stepped up coming off the bench and really put in a solid effort”, commented Coach Buchanan. Grace will take on NAIA Aquinas College on Tuesday.
