Dustin Buchanan

Head Coach

Head Coach Dustin Buchanan is in his sixth season as the Head Coach of the Men’s Soccer Team.  Coach Buchanan was named 2010 Mid West Coach Of The Year after leading his team to a 12-8-1-1(PK Loss) record.  He helped the Tigers to a third place finish in the 2010 ACCA Tournament where his team would only allow one goal in three matches.  During his first year at the helm, Coach Buchanan led the Tigers to a 9-9 overall record and to the NCCAA II Midwest Regional semi-finals. He had an NCCAA II record of 6-5. During the 2008 season, the Tigers also notched victories over NCAA III Finlandia University and USCAA members Andrews University and Taylor University/Fort Wayne. During his second season, a rebuilding year, Coach Buchanan led the team to the Regional Semi-Finals before falling to Moody Bible Institute.  Coach Buchanan has had the privilege of coaching five All-Region players, Two-ACCA All-Americans, Two ACCA All-American Honorable Mention players and an NCCAA II All-American.

GBC Athletic Director Rich Renzema believes Buchanan has done a fantastic job building the soccer program at Grace. “I truly believe that Dustin is the right person to lead our young men in the soccer program. He is determined and has a great knowledge of the game and the players relate well to him”, said Renzema.

Coach Buchanan has played for various club teams throughout his career and believes that soccer is the most beautiful game and that hard work off the pitch helps translate into success on the pitch.  He promotes a family atmosphere with his teams and has a true passion and love for the game of soccer.  He is a member of the NSCAA.  Coach Buchanan and the rest of the coaching staff have worked hard to bring in new players to strengthen the squad and are looking forward to the seasons to come.

Coach Buchanan is a 2001 graduate of Wayland High School and 2006 graduate of Grace Bible College earning his Bachelors in Human Services. At GBC he played soccer for three season earning All-Region honors twice and team MVP honors in 2004-2005 and 2005-06.

Nathan Grube

Assistant Coach

Coach Grube has an extensive soccer background both as a player and coach.   Nathan is graduated from Hudsonville High School in Hudsonville, MI in 2001.  While there he earned All-District, All-Region and All-State Honors.  His college experience started here at GBC where he earned his Associate of Arts.  During his two years playing he was twice Offensive MVP, was All-GBC Classic Team in 2001 and again with Coach Buchanan on the All-GBC Classic Team in 2002, All-Region both years, All-American 2nd Team as a Freshman in 2001, All-American 1st Team in 2002 as a Sophomore.  He also holds GBC’s all time season scoring record with 30 goals.  He then attended NAIA Cornerstone University where he was 04’ & 05’ Offensive MVP, 04’ All-Conference 2nd Team, 05’ All-Conference 1st Team, All-Region 1st Team, and All-American Honorable Mention.  He graduated from Cornerstone University with his B.S. in Exercise Science in 2009.  He has also spent time with the United Soccer League professional side Charlotte Eagles Team.  After playing he has spent time coaching four years as Varsity Assistant Coach at Cornerstone, and two years as JV Coach.  He spent four years coaching the Byron Center H.S. girls team as well as 3 years as Tri-Unity H.S. Girls Assistant Coach under GBC Alum Mike Cronkright where they had 2 district titles.

 

Joshua Rumenapp

Assistant Coach/GK Coach

Coach Rumenapp has been involved with soccer for 20 years now, with the vast majority of his time spent as a goalkeeper. He was a 5 year starter at New Life Christian Academy and was awarded 1st team all-conference 3 times, as well as all-district, all-region, all-area, and all-state teams as well in his senior year. He finished his collegiate career in 2009 at Grace Bible College after being a 4 year starter and recording over 950 saves in his career. He was named the team’s best defender 3 years and team MVP during his senior campaign. He was also awarded all-regional and ACCA all-American honors as well. Since graduating he has been involved with coaching goalkeepers at the high school (Potters House and New Life Christian Academy) and collegiate (GBC) levels with several of his keepers going on to win awards at the end of their respective seasons. Coach Rumenapp has a passion for soccer and for teaching his players how the play the game the game in a manner that is honoring to God.
