ArtPrize Piece “Threads of Grace” on display at Grace Bible College

Local artist Mary Steenwyk’s work “Threads of Grace” has found its next home at Grace Bible College. The ArtPrize piece is on display in the Student Commons area through the month of November. Mary describes the work as being “inspired by the selfless acts, acts of grace that are shared from one to another each day. As grace renews brokenness it weaves beauty into our lives. Grace is the thread that holds us all together.” The piece is constructed of long colorful fibers and children from West Michigan, the Ukraine and South Africa all contributed to the project.

The idea for the “Threads of Grace” display at Grace Bible College started with the students and spread to the faculty and staff. Brian Sherstad, Vice President for Community Life said: “We are excited for the opportunity to display Mary Steenwyk’s “Threads of Grace” on campus because it represents the desire of Grace Bible College to serve Christ in our community. God has extended the gift of grace to all people. Students, staff and faculty at Grace Bible College express our thankfulness for his grace by sharing it with our community. It is our hope that our combined service to the community will be as beautiful as the combined threads Mrs. Steenwyk has woven together from around the world.”
