One of the fastest growing professions relates to the service industry, especially in response to the human condition. No one is more prepared to meet this need than the Christian who is able to apply the principles of the Word of God and the knowledge and skills gained in a Human Services program. Grace Bible College considers human services to be a profession and an area of study that is concerned with efforts to aid people in fulfilling their emotional, mental, physical, social and spiritual needs.
The Human Services major is designed to provide an understanding of helping and healing relationships. The curriculum is interdisciplinary, designed to prepare students for entry-level work in a variety of social agencies after graduation. More advanced degrees may lead to professional administrative and clinical positions. Students will gain practical skill and knowledge during their practicum experience in a local agency.
Like every other program of study, the Bachelor of Science in Human Services builds on the strengths of the Associate’s degree (see Foundations). This includes the Grace Experience, a course that introduces all incoming students to the key learning outcomes that will transform your life! Then there are even more courses in Bible and theology, you will learn more about the Word of God and how it applies to every area of life. The Human Services major includes the following courses:
- Introduction to Human Services
- Developmental Psychology
- Abnormal Psychology
- Social Psychology
- Adult Psychology
- Principles of Sociology
- Cultural Diversity
