All week the weatherman has been forecasting thunderstorms and severe weather for this Saturday’s race. An hour and a half before the race a front blew through and cooled the air with no rain! Things looked good. But after the clouds moved on, the temperature and humidity quickly began to rise. Many runners had a great race, but sadly, some literally feel to the heat. Thankfully all of Grace’s runners finished the race and did not suffer as badly as some did. Brandon VanderWeide took 52nd place with an 8k time of 32:36. This is a 6:36 mile pace. Comparing him to last year’s men’s time this would have placed him second in last year’s team. For the women, Danielle Davies placed 57th overall with a 5k time of 30:05 and Lauren Asmussen placed 59 overall with a time of 43:08. Congratulations on your first race Tigers, we look forward to better weather and better times next weekend at Calvin.
