Athletic Director Rich Renzema is happy to announce the hiring of Lisa Stowers as the new cross-country coach at GBC. “We are extremely happy to have Lisa here to get our cross-country program up and running. She comes to us with a strong resume in cross-country and we feel that the team will benefit from her experience and enthusiasm.”
A 1984 graduate of Forest Hills Central, Lisa set records in the mile, two mile and 5k and finished 13th in the State her senior year. She also ran indoor track at Grand Valley State University for two years.
Lisa was an assistant coach at Forest Hills Central in 1989 and 1990. She was the Head Coach for both men and women at Tri-Unity Christian where her men’s team won Regionals and competed at the State meet.
She has run the Fifth/Third 25K River Bank Run seven times, three marathons, and various other 5K and 10K runs. She is currently employed by Byron Center Charter Schools as the eigth grade teacher. She holds a B.S. in Secondary Education and a Masters of Education from GVSU. She has been married to husband David for 23 years and they have five children and two grandchildren.
