The Tigers picked up their second win in Moberly, Missouri by defeating Calvary Bible College 61-55. The Warriors jumped out to a 10 point lead early but the Tigers fought back and tied it going into the half. The second half saw the Tigers keep momentum and jump out to a 10 point lead of their own only to have Calvary fight back to pull within two late in the game, 57-55. Jessica Sikorski and Shelby Jamieson each hit two free throws to seal the win.
Sikorski led all scoreres with 35 points and 11 rebounds. Keri Rudd continues her comeback from injury by scoring 8 points, pulling down 5 rebounds, and handing out 4 assists. Naomi Walker and Liz Nelson also had 4 assists each. Shelby Jamieson had 4 steals in the game.
The Tigers shot 42% from the floor but were 0-5 from behind the arc. The Tigers were outrebounded by the Warriors 26-21.
“I felt like our defense was the key tonight,” said Coach Rich Renzema. “We seem to be getting better at that end of the floor which is the key to our recent success.” The Tigers have now won 5 of their last 7 games.
The Tigers will travel to Gary, IN on January 11th to take on Indiana University Northwest (NAIA II) at 5:00pm.
