Tiger Women Unleash Balanced Attack in Opening Victory

The Tiger women’s basketball team played their long-awaited season opener and came away with a decisive 85-33 victory over Great Lakes Christian.  Jessica Sikorski lead a balanced attack with 22 pts.  Freshman Marissa Pelletier had a very strong debut with 20 pts and lead all rebounders with 12.  Stephanie Miller added 16 pts, including two from beyond the arc.  Kerie Rudd played an all-around strong game with 14 pts and six rebounds and was instrumental in engineering the Tiger attack.  Freshman Cassie Hidalgo was solid at the point with six points and a team-high seven assists.

“The score looks impressive, but we have a long way to go and need to play a lot more consistent when the schedule gets tougher” Coach Renzema said after the game.  “ We saw some positives, but we can’t be satisfied with how we played.”

The Tigers travel to Grayson, Kentucky this weekend and will take on three of the best teams the NCCAA has to offer in Valley Forge Christian, U C Clermont, and Kentucky Christian.  “We’ll find out a lot about our team after this weekend,” coach Renzema added, “but we are looking forward to the challenge.”
