Several former players came back to participate in the annual alumni game, but they ran into a team that looked a little different than they had seen in previous years. The alumni team featured Sonja Myers and the record-setting Jessica Sikorski, but the depth and athleticism of the new Lady Tiger squad took over early to post the easy win.
The Lady Tigers had four players score in double figures. Sophomore Marissa Pelletier (Calvin Christian) and Freshmen Anna Iwaniw (Kent City) and Sydney Wildeboer (Kent City) had 12 points and Amy Leszinske (Ravenna) had 10. Abby Schultz (Calvary Schools of Holland) chipped in with nine, Meagan Beckwith (Grand Rapids Central) scored six, Christine Michael (Providence Christian) and Brittany Summerfield (Forest Hills Northern) each had five, and Amanda Alvarez (Potter’s House) had three points.
“The alumni team gave us a great test and made us work hard,” Coach Renzema commented about the game. “While we still have a lot to learn and are still working to get all of these new girls on the same page, but we saw some great things from our girls tonight.”
Jessica Sikorski scored 11 points and Sonja Myers added 10 to lead the way for the alumni team.
