Sarah Steenwyk, a 5-7 forward from Zion Christian High School has signed to play basketball at Grace Bible College. Sarah was selected 2nd team All-Conference her senior season for the Mountaineers under the leadership of coach Tom VanderWall. Sarah was a three-year varsity player at Zion and is noted for being a tenacious rebounder, having collected a whopping 480 boards in her high school career. Sarah topped the 15 rebound mark five times and 20 twice in her Senior season, an amazing feat for someone her height. Sarah also scored 350 points and had 119 steals in her high school career.
Sarah is also a standout on the soccer field where she has been honored with All-Conference status. Sarah has been a team captain for basketball and soccer and has also earned several academic and citizenship awards.
Sarah is the daughter of Al and Sue Steenwyk. She has two brothers, Seth and Scott, who happen to share the same birth date as Sarah because they are triplets.
“We are very happy to have Sarah Steenwyk in this class,” Coach Renzema commented about Sarah. “She is a very strong rebounder and does not back down from players, even when they are several inches taller. She finishes well on the break and around the basket. We like her work ethic and think the other aspects of her game will continue to develop.”
