Blue Team Holds Off White in 2012-13 Team Debut

Amy goes up for 2.

The Blue Team, despite playing without a sub due to an injury to lone senior Kerie Rudd, held off a feisty rally from the White Team and held on to win 41-32 in the team’s 2012-13 debut.  The two teams played 12  minute halves, and put on display some of the new talent the coaches have been anxious to see in action.

The Blue Team was led by Amanda Alvarez with 13 points, including a trio of three point shots.  Kim Kamp and Anna Iwaniw were also in double figures with 10 points each.  Sarah Steenwyk and Abby Schultz each added four points.   Anna and Sarah also controlled the boards with double-digit rebound totals.  Amanda and Abby each had three assists.

The Blue Team was seemingly in control of the game, but the white team closed the gap to a single basket in the second half.  Good passing and some key rebounding by the Blue extended the lead that held up at the end.

The White Team was led by Marissa Pelletier with 10 points.  Amy Leszinske added seven points, Christine Michael had six, Sydney Wildeboer had five, and Brittany Summerfield and Meagan Beckwith each added two.  Meagan Beckwith led the white team rebounders with six,  Marissa added five, and Amy had four.  Christine, Amy, and Meagan each had two assists.

The Lady Tigers will be in action on Saturday in the annual alumni game.  Game time is 5 PM at the Aldrich Athletic Center.
