After a Year Away from Basketball, Kent City Duo to Suit Up for Grace in 2012-13

Anna Iwaniw and Sydney Wildeboer have been playing basketball together since they were in fifth grade and have been best friends for at least that long.  In 2011, the two young ladies from Kent City found themselves pursuing different goals at different schools and their plans did not include basketball.  Sydney was at Grand Valley in Allendale, while Anna started her studies at CMU in Mount Pleasant.  Even though they were at different schools, they found they had yet another thing in common, they missed playing basketball.

Anna and Sydney were both integral parts of the 2010-11 Kent City team, coached by Scott Carlson,  that reached the regionals in class C.  They had defeated conference rival, Calvin Christian and new teammate Marissa Pelletier, in the district finals.

“I could tell right away that both Anna and Sydney were very excited about the possibility of playing basketball again at Grace,” Coach Ash explained.  “Both girls are very passionate about basketball and have made sacrifices to be able to make this happen.  Coach Renzema and I are both very excited to have them at Grace and they are both going to be special players for us.”
