Many of the members of the upcoming 2012-13 Lady Tiger basketball team made it to campus on June 22-23 for a time to play basketball with their new teammates, but more importantly, to start the team bonding process. Twelve girls took part in all or part of the weekend event, which included some competitive scrimmaging on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning.
After playing on Friday afternoon, the team headed out to North Beach in Ferrysburg for a cookout and, for most of the girls, the first experience with the awesome culinary abilities of team activities coordinator, Kathy Renzema.
Once finished at the beach, the girls took over a couple of the on campus apartments for a night of watching movies and getting to know each other better. Saturday brought some additional time for basketball followed by a team lunch.
“We are very thrilled with the incoming class of players and this weekend we saw a lot of that potential on display,” Coach Renzema commented about the weekend. “I am pleased with the talent level of the players, but even more, the personalities and character of the girls are special. This is definitely going to be an interesting season and one I am really looking forward to getting started.”
