Athletic Teams Volunteer For Metro Cruise Race

The men’s and women’s teams from soccer and basketball woke up early saturday morning to help with the Metro Cruise Charity Race. The student athletes were stationed around the 5K and 10K road course to help runners and for crowd control. 35 students in all joined some staff to help make this a very great event. Although Grace has no affiliation with the Metro Cruise, the planners asked if they could make part of their course through the GBC campus.

2010-11 Schedule Released

The 2010-11 women’s basketball schedule was released today by Athletic Director and coach, Rich Renzema. “I am really excited about this season’s schedule,” said Renzema. “I am most excited about it because of the squad we have assembled this year. The schedule is challenging with some great travel but it’s the players that will make it special. We have brought in quite a few players that will contribute right away. We still return a good experienced core group but I feel the help they needed has arrived.”

The Lady Tigers will travel to seven different states this season to complete the schedule. There are three tournaments on the schedule starting with the Ohio Christian Classic in Circleville, OH. The Tigers will play OCU in their first game of the year in the tournament. OCU was the NCCAA II national runner-up. The Super 8 Classic is held in Grayson, KY and always has some of the top teams in the country including last years national champion, Kentucky Christian University. Grace will host it’s annual Christmas Tournament in mid December.

In all, the Lady Tigers will travel to Ohio, Kentucky, Illinois, Wisconsin, Missouri, Indiana, and Iowa. A few of these states will be visited more than once this year. Only nine games will be played at home in the Aldrich Athletic Center. One of those games will be Kuyper College in the 4th annual “Cross-town Rival Game” slated for December 7th. The winner of this game receives the coveted Cross Cup for the year.

The NCCAA Regional will be held in Lincoln, IL and the NCCAA National Tournament will take place in Circleville, OH. The ACCA National Tournament will be held in Joppa, MO.

We need your help in fillings the gaps in the Media Guide for the women. Go to the athletic website and click on the 2009-2010 Media Guide. You can then help us fill the missing areas.

I would also like all the women basketball alumni to send me an email so I can put together a list and keep you updated on the current season and anything else that is happening at Grace.

Lady Tigers Hold Recruit Day

The 2010-11 Lady Tigers gathered at GBC today for a fun day of basketball and fellowship. Head Coach Rich Renzema scheduled this day to let the girls get aquainted and establish some friendships before the school year began. After playing a few games of pick-up ball, the girls are going to Lake Michigan for a picnic.

Coach Renzema expects an exciting year for the Lady Tigers in 2010-11

With 6 players returning and a host of new talent coming in Coach Renzema is excited about the new season. The Lady Tigers will host a get together on July 9 and 10 so the new players can meet the returning players. They will start by playing at 2:00 PM Friday followed by a picnic at Lake Michigan. They will stay in the doom rooms together that night and enjoy a pizza party. Saturday morning the ladies will play more basketball at 10:00 AM followed by lunch at Old Country Buffet.

It should be a fun filled weekend for all.
