The Tigers had their first taste of basketball for the 2011-12 season and came away with a 94-90 win over some of the biggest names in basketball from around West Michigan. The Sportspower Pro Team came to the Aldrich Center to take on the Tigers and showed why they had such great careers in high school, college, and the pro’s. Most of the players range in age from 24-30 years old.
“It’s one of the first times I can remember watching our team go out for the opening tip and thinking we were so small,” said Coach Gary Bailey. “I was pretty happy for the most part tonight. We are still a very experienced team from last year and we saw some pretty good things from some of our new players. To get a win against this team is pretty neat.” The Tigers were lead by Junior Ryan Dame with 17, John Oostema 14, Cory Jamieson 13, and Ryan Krombeen and Matt Kurtz each had 12. The Tigers shot 50% from the field, 46% from three, and 63% from the line. Grace was outrebounded 45-36.
Former Central Michigan University & Cornerstone University standout, Brandon Vorhees lead the Pro’s with 25 points.
