Tigers Win 2010 Opener 101-69

Dan Dame and John Oostema

The Tigers overcame a sluggish first half to get the NCCAA II Midwest Regional win over Great Lakes Christian College.  “That may be the worst half of basketball I have seen here in my six years,” said Coach Gary Bailey.  “It was a combination of what Great Lakes was doing and our effort.  We are too much of a veteren team to play like that.”  The Tigers went into the locker room up 40-33.  The Tigers came out of the locker room and opened the game up.  Allen Durham led the way with 24 points with Ryan Krombeen hitting for 15, Dan Dame 13, and Ryan Dame 10.  Krombeen pulled down 9 rebounds and Durham 8.  Durham and Cory Jamieson each handed out 3 assists.

The Tigers held the advantage in assists 16-6 and rebounds 43-27.  Grace was 24-27 from the free throw line.  The Tigers will participate in the Davenport Tournament next weekend when they play rival Kuyper College at 8:00pm on Friday night.

The Tigers have now won 16 games in a row and have 39 straight wins in the NCCAA II nationally.

Prior to the game, 2009-10 Captains, Allen Durham, Ryan Krombeen, and Brandon Herlein present the national championship trophy, banner and game ball to Grace Athletic Director Rich Renzema.
