At Wayland High School, the Tigers outlasted a determined Moody Bible Institute team 72-48 to go to 19-10 on the season. Moody used a very methodical and determined offense to slow the ball down. “Moody has always been one of the teams that plays us the best,” said Coach Gary Bailey. “They are a well oiled machine on the offensive end every year. They run their offense to perfection and at times just wore us down into a mistake. I think our size advantage on the offensive end and the boards was the difference tonight.” The Tigers outrebounded the Archers 33-26 and shot a blistering 53% for the game (64% in the first half) compared to 41% for Moody. The Tigers put five players in double figures in the game with Allen Durham hitting 13, Paul Nelson and Ryan Dame with 12, Matt Kurtz and Brandon Herlien with 10.
The Tigers played at Wayland HS to honor the five players that play for the Tigers this season. “The crowd was great tonight,” said Bailey. “The people of Wayland really came out and supported their former players. It was a really fun atmosphere. Having Brandon Clahassey (former Tiger) doing the music for warm-ups was really special too. We really want to thank the athletic staff and people of WHS for allowing us to do this tonight.”
The Tigers will now have almost two weeks off to prepare for their final three games of the season. Grace will take in Indiana University Northwest on Feb. 13th at GBC.
