Tigers Top NAIA II #11 Cornerstone University

Men's Basketball Media Day 098

Ryan Krombeen - 20 points, 11 rebounds, 7 assists, 2 blocks

The Tigers traveled to Cornerstone University tonight to take on the Eagles who are currently ranked #11 in the latest NAIA poll and came away with a 82-68 win.   Grace  blistered the nets for 64.6% shooting while holding Cornerstone to 34.4% from the floor.  Grace also held the advantage in rebounds 37-30, assists 22-11 and blocks 7-1.

GBC was led by Allen Durham’s 31 points.  Ryan Krombeen turned in his finest performance of the year just missing a triple double with 20 points, 11 rebounds, and 7 assists, and 2 blocks.  Also hitting double figures were Cory Jamieson and Brandon Herlein with 10 each.  Dan Dame added 5 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists.  Although Grace totaled a season high 28 turnovers, Coach Gary Bailey wasn’t overly conerned.  “A team like Cornerstone brings great pressure from the opening tip and we had a few meltdowns but some were my fault,” said Bailey.  “I had a couple of line-ups in there that we didn’t have our ball handlers in.  We adjusted well but they just keep coming at you and a few of our young players weren’t ready for that type of pressure. ”

Grace extended their lead to as many as 21 in the second half and made shots down the stretch to hold on for the win.

The Tigers head to Fairbanks, Alaska on Wednesday to take on NCAA II Alaska Anchorage and Alaska Fairbanks in the Glacier Classic which begins Friday night.
