Tigers Beat Ohio Christian University 79-65

Allen Durham - 28 points & 13 rebounds

The Tigers won their 52nd straight game in the NCCAA II by knocking off Ohio Christian University 79-65.  Ohio Christian’s game plan seemed to be run the shot clock down to 6-8 seconds and then get off a shot, and the Tigers let them do just that and went in to the locker room with a 12 point lead, 36-24.  In the second half it seemed like more of the same as OCU looked to use time off the clock to shorten the game.

“I was a little surprised that they would want to get into a half-court game with us,” said Coach Gary Bailey.  “It allowed us to rest some guys and then be fresh at the end of the game.”   Twelve players entered the game for GBC in the first half.  Allen Durham led Grace with 28 points and 13 rebounds.  Matt Kurtz scored 14, Cory Jamieson 11, Dan Dame 10, Ryan Krombeen 9, and Ryan Dame 7.  “It was an odd scoring game for us,” said Bailey.  “Only six players scored tonight.  We usually put ten or more guys in the scoring column.  It just seemed like the same players were getting open each time down the floor.”  Dan Dame and Jamieson each had 4 assists for Grace.

The Tigers shot 52.3% from the floor compared to 41.8% for OCU.  The Tigers out-rebounded the Trailblazers by a 40-25 margin.  Grace now stands at 18-7 and will play again on Monday night at 6:00pm against U of Michigan-Flint on the campus of Grace Bible College.
