The Grace Bible College Tigers held their annual sports fundraising banquet tonight in the Aldrich Center on the campus of GBC. It was a wonderful evening of fun and fellowship. The evening opened with the Emcee for the evening, John Spooner, introducing the student/athletes at Grace that would be the table servers for the evening. Coach Spooner then invited each table to compete in a game of guessing school mascots. It was a hilarious segment of the program. After a great dinner, Junior volleyball player Tabitha Ryan performed the song “Legacy”. This was followed by a testimonial from Bernie Blauwkamp, father of next years basketball recruit, Jake Blauwkamp. He spoke of why his family chose GBC as their school for their son. Volleyball player Nicole Galbicsek then spoke about here time here at Grace and her injury that sidelined her last season. All American Allen Durham then thanked the GBC students, staff, and fans for his time here at Grace and for their support. He spoke on why he came to Grace and stayed all four years even though many schools tried to persuade him to transfer.
Featured speaker, Rick Cooper of the “Christian College Sports Network,” offered a great challenge to the crowd of over 200 people with his message.
“It was really a fun night to see some old friends and make some new one’s,” said Coach Gary Bailey. “We had a great turnout and everyone had a great time. This is such a nice way to get together when all of the sports at GBC are together and working towards a goal at the same time.”
