Tigers Help Out At Grandville Christian School

Ryan Krombeen leads the students in stretching

Coach Bailey speaks to the students and staff

The men’s basketball team traveled the short distance across town to Grandville Christian School this morning to help kick off their two week focus on balancing school, athletics, and their Christian walk.  The K-6 students crowded into the gym with family and teachers (approx. 500).  The students went through a stretching excercise led by Junior, Ryan Krombeen while the players helped in the crowd.  The players and students cheered and exchanged “high fives” while stretching to start their day.  The players then put on a dunking exhibition highlighted by Allen Durham’s 360 and Ryan Dame throwing the ball off the stage wall for a dunk and then jumping over a teammate to throw it down.  Coach Bailey then spoke to the group about doing well in school and helpful tips about having good character.

“Hearing these students cheer so loud for the guys as they stretched together and as they went through their dunks was really fun.  The kids were so cooperative throughout the assembly.  They were very quiet and respectful as we spoke.  It was a real tribute to the faculty and staff of the school to have such great students,” said Coach Gary Bailey.

On the way back to Grace, the coaches decided to treat the players to donuts.   The bus pulled in to the famous Marge’s Donuts.  “When I stepped up to the counter to pay the bill, the owner said no charge,” said Coach Bailey.  “She said that the guys were so mannerly and courteous that she wanted to pay for their donuts and drinks.  It was a great morning.  A lot of good was being done all around today.”
