Tigers Fall To Davenport 69-61

The third time is a charm saying did not apply to the Tigers tonight against NAIA # 19 Davenport University.  In the third meeting, the Tigers and Panthers did battle for 40 minutes with the outcome up in the air until the final seconds.  With the lead changing hands many times throughout the game, the Panthers went ahead at the 6:53 mark and would not trail again.  Grace would only score three points in the final 5:51 of the contest.   The Tigers let yet another game slip away from the foul line as they shot a horrible 11 of 25 from the charitry stripe.  Davenport was one of only four teams to outrebound GBC this season and did it convincing style by pulling down 47 boards to the Tigers 33.

Allen Durham led Grace with 15 points and 10 rebounds.  Brandon Herlein added 13 and Ryan Krombeen 10 for Grace.  Cory Jamieson handed out a team high 5 assists.  “We were really flat offensively tonight,” said Coach Bailey.  “Part of it was Davenports pressure but we just didn’t do what we normally do on the offensive end.  Regardless, you can’t shoot 11-25 from the line and win many games against great teams like this. ”

The Tigers, now 12-9 on the season, will take on NAIA Madonna University in the consolation game tomorrow at 6:00pm at DeVos Fieldhouse in Holland.
