Tigers Are 2011 Midwest Regional Champions

 Chicago, IL – The Tigers won the 2011 NCCAA II Midwest Regional with a 84-64 victory over Lincoln Christian University.  The Tigers were led by Allen Durham’s 25 points and 11 rebounds.  Ryan Krombeen scored 13, Ryan Dame 11, and Cory Jamieson 10 in the win.  Krombeen also led the team with 5 assists.

As with the first two games of the regional, the Tigers came out strong and opened up a double digit lead and then received quality minutes from their bench.  For the weekend the Tiger bench outscored their opponents bench a staggering 133-27.  Grace shot 54% from the floor compared to 38.7% for Lincoln.  The Tigers also had a 44-29 advantage on the boards.

“This Lincoln team is a very good team,” said Coach Gary Bailey.  “They play as hard as anyone we have faced all year.  They were 22-7 coming into this game and we knew that they would be dangerous.  They can flat shoot the lights out.”

The Tigers have now won 56 straight games in the NCCAA II and 5 regional titles in the last six years.  The Tigers will continue their quest for a third straight national title, and fourth in six years as they travel to Springfield, MO to begin the Elite Eight on March 10th.
