Mike Svoboda has signed with the Tigers for the 2010 season.  Mike, a 6’10″ center from Grand Haven, MI will give the Tigers added depth in the post.  “We are really happy Mike has agreed to attend GBC and play basketball next season.  He has been out of school a couple of years and is eager to get back to class and start earning his degree.  Mike has a great shot and is good with the ball.  He is a fortunate find for us and we are glad he chose to attend Grace,” said Coach Bailey.  “Having to go up against Durham and Krombeen everyday in practice will help him get acclamated quickly.  He will also force them to work harder around the basket with his size.”

During his senior season Mike broke his arm during football and it hampered his basketball for the season but he  continued to work hard.  “My stats suffered but I really learned to use my left hand during the recovery period,” he said.  Mike averaged 6 ppg in a guard focused offense but shot 73% from the floor and 80% from the line.
