Jake Blauwkamp, a 6’2″ guard from Grandville High School, has agreed to play basketball at Grace next year. Jake is a four year starter at Grandville. Grandville has a high school enrollment approaching 2,000 students. Averaging 9 points per game his senior season, Jake spent much of the off-season and early season in rehab for his knee. A mid-summer injury did not allow him to start the season as he had hoped. After leading his team in scoring his junior year, he is eager to get back to where his game was before the injury. Jake was honored as an All-Conference and All-Area selection as a Junior. He also was a standout in football at quarterback and had the attention of numerous colleges. Jake also played AAU ball for the Courthouse Kings.
“We are so happy to have Jake and his family as part of the Grace team,” said Coach Gary Bailey. “He is an outstanding young man and a great student (3.9 gpa). He is a hard nosed defender and can shoot the ball. He will strengthen us at the guard spot for the next four years.”
Jake’s parents are Bernie and Kim Blauwkamp. He also has four brothers Adam, Andrew, Joey, and Jared.
Jake plans to to major in Education.
