Senior Brandon Herlein hit a record eight 3-pointers as Grace rolled to a 117-87 win over Indiana University Northwest. Herlein ended the game with 24 points to lead GBC. The Tigers led at the half 65-33. Sixteen players entered the scoring column with Allen Durham hitting for 19 and pulling down 17 rebounds. Freshman Ryan Dame scored 17 points in just 12 minutes of play. Herlein was the only player for the Tigers to get over 20 minutes in the game. Sophomore Cory Jamieson handed out 8 assists and Dan Dame 7 assists.
Pete Trgovich scored 41 points for IUNW. “This guy can really fill it up,” said Coach Gary Bailey. “He is really hard to stop. We knew he would get his but we just wanted to make sure no one else hurt us. It was fun getting everyone in for good minutes tonight against a good team. We had two weeks since our last game and we came out playing well. I was happy with our offense but our defense seemed a little rusty. Because we really pushed the ball tonight I knew we might give up a few more points.”
Grace out shot the Red Hawks 54% to 46%. The Tigers held advantages in rebounds 59-24, assists 30-19 and free throw percentage 74%-50%.
The Tigers now stand at 20-10 on the season and take on cross town rival Kuyper College on Tuesday night.
