The Tigers played well today but it wasn’t enough as the Red Raiders shot lights out basketball to defeat the Tigers 91-68. With the score tied at 38 at the half Northwestern hit 7-11 from the arc and 12-15 free throws to earn the victory. With just under 12 minutes to go the Tigers were down 1 point. Northwestern then began hitting their shots and the Tigers struggled to find the basket.
“I was really happy with our energy today and how ready we were to play,” said Coach Bailey.”Obviously we play to win every game and this was no exception, but we are looking at a bigger picture as a team. We focused on doing some things and the guys responded well. A loss is easier to take when we get better for it. Northwestern is as good or better than any team we have played this year. They are big, strong, and can really shoot.”
The Red Raiders shot 50% in both halves compared to the Tigers 34%. The Tigers were outrebounded 43-38. GBC committed 13 turnovers to 10 for NC.
Allen Durham led Grace with 16 points and 7 rebounds. Ryan Krombeen had 14 points. Cory Jamieson led Grace with 4 assists.
The Tigers now have almost two weeks off to prepare for the second half of the season when they take on Indiana University Northwest (NAIA II) on January 11th in Gary, IN.
