Grace Defeats Davenport University

The Tigers avenged an earlier season loss by defeating Davenport University 68-65. The Tigers improved to 10-6 on the season and the Panthers dropped to 10-4. The Tigers led by 14 at the half and by as many as 18 in the first half but the Panthers fought back to make a game of it through most of the second half. “I told our players that this team was very well coached and that we needed to withstand them coming out of the half with new intensity and a different game plan” said Coach Gary Bailey. “We didn’t handle it as well as I thought we could have but I was pleased with the win and the way our kids played. Coach Bohl worked our defenses very well tonight and mixed it up quite a bit. I thought it threw their offense off a little at times.”

Grace shot 47% from the floor compared to 38% for DU. Both teams struggled from the line with Du shooting 60% and GBC 50%. GBC held the edge in rebounds, 47-34 and assists, 16-7.

Grace will host Cornerstone University on Saturday before heading to Iowa to face NAIA power William Penn University.
